SUZUKI, M., OSAWA, S. and HIRANO, M. A Lyeium Chinense Miller Component Inducing Ovulation in Adult Female Rabbits. Tohoku J. exp. Med., 1972, 106 (3), 219-231Intravenous injection of the crude extract from Lycii folium among components of Lycium chinense Miller induced ovulation in the adult female rabbit. Chemical properties of the active component of this crude extract were investigated by dialysis, ninhydrin reaction, adsorption by charcoal, cellulose column chromato graphy with methanol solution, precipitation by methanol solution, Amberlite IR-410 and IR-4B column chromatography, DEAE cellulose chromatography, gel filtration with Sephadex G-25 and G-50, starch electrophoresis, etc. While the nature and the mechanism of action of this substance still remain unknown, the detection of a substance with such action in plants and the elucidation of its chemical properties may provide a step for future developments in reproductive physiology. ovulation; Lycium chinense Miller; reproductive physiology

Supercritical fluid extract of Lycium chinense Miller root inhibition of melanin production and its potential mechanisms of action
BACKGROUND The mode of action of Lycium chinense Miller root extract in skin care has never been explored. In the present study, Lycium chinense Miller root was extracted by the supercritical fluid CO2 extraction method. METHODS In the present study, the components of the root extract were analyzed by HPLC. The effects of the extract on tyrosinase activity and melanin content were determined ...
متن کاملNitric Oxide Inhibition and Procollagen Type I Peptide Synthesis Activities of a Phenolic Amide Identified from the Stem of Lycium chinense Miller.
The bioactivities of boxthron fruits, a source of oriental medicine, are well known, whereas phytochemical studies of the boxthorn stem are rare. In this study, the stem extract of boxthorn (Lycium chinense Miller) and its subfractions were evaluated for their effects on nitric oxide (NO) inhibition and procollagen type I peptide (PIP) synthesis. A phenolic amide isolated from the stem extract ...
متن کاملHepatoprotective pyrrole derivatives of Lycium chinense fruits.
As a part of our search for hepatoprotective compounds from Lycium chinense fruits, three new pyrrole derivatives (1-3) were isolated. These compounds and a related synthetic methylated compound (4) were evaluated for their biological activity and structure-activity relationship, and compounds 1 and 2 showed hepatoprotective effects comparable to silybin at the concentration of 0.1 microM (64.4...
متن کاملDiscrimination of Lycium chinense and Lycium barbarum by taste pattern and betaine analysis.
Lycii Fructus was used as natural products with therapeutic properties for a long time. Betaine is a natural amino acid and one of the major constituents of Lycii Fructus. It is reported that this fruit plays a role in reducing blood levels of homocysteine, a toxic byproduct of the amino acid metabolism. This study was used to establish infra based on oriental medicine through the analysis of c...
متن کاملMetabolomics for the quality assessment of Lycium chinense fruits.
Lycium chinense has been used as a traditional medicine for centuries in Asia because of its positive effects on health. However, its functional components have not been elucidated. This study determines the levels of health-promoting lipophilic compounds, including carotenoids, tocopherols, and phytosterol, and those of 42 hydrophilic metabolites, including sugars, organic acids, alcohols, ami...
